Latest News - June 16, 2007Okay - we are finally making progress on changes to my art site www.heatherbartlettart.com as well as making official plans for this site as well. I write for The Bay Net now, which takes up a chunk of my week, with photos and collecting data for articles, etc. I enjoy it and I also feel like I'm making a contribution to the community since I get to write about what's going on in the arts community in Charles County. Most recently Allzah Art was at River Artsfest held in Indian Head at the Village Green. It was a great location and lots of fun, even if it was hard work both working the event as an artist and as a Bay Net Correspondant. Will and I also had the pleasure of shooting the publicity shots for "Queen of the Bohemian Dream" - which should be a very interesting show. Once I heard about the details of the show I wanted to do an article about the producer who is a So. Marylander and the show itself - it's a doosey! As for Allzah's changes, Allzah had a great couple of years as a place to come read reviews of theatre, music and art. We had thousands of hits and a lot of fun doing it. The one problem is it ate up a *lot* of time that left me and others with little time to create. We will keep the archives of Allzah.com up since people still read the reviews and such, but the main page is getting an over-haul and will be made into a place to connect with all of our work. Through this site you will be able to visit Heather Bartlett's art site as well as Will Hardy's art site and I (Heather) and Will will have a photograhy site together where you can buy prints of their work. If you need to reach Heather or Will you can reach them through heather(at)allzah(dot)com. *** River Artsfest was great. You can read an article Heather wrote for The Bay Net covering the event HERE and the same for the Maryland Faerie Festival - you can read about it HERE. I haven't had a chance to create a gallery of the Faerie Festival and River Artsfest here on the Allzah Art sites, but we are working on it! Just wait until you see some of the Faerie Festival photos! Keep checking in on us! Heather June 8, 2007River Artsfest is tomorrow. Will, Jade and I will be there, showing our work and soaking up some art. There will be lots of other artists, performers and it should be a lovely day! Also, my bellydance class is scheduled to perform during the day. I am not performing because I'm busy selling. I'll also be doing a craft with the kids at the kids event tent. Saturday, June 9, 2007 Free Admission! See you there! May 15, 2007This weekend is the Maryland Faerie Festival. Heather and Will are vending on both days and hope you'll stop by to say hi! March 13, 2007Lots of stuff has happened since my last update. My friend Richard and I started up Charles County Cafe - a group news and politics blog for Charles County, Maryland. Please stop by and leave some comments! I have been also working on, as promised, a new arts news site. It's way behind schedule though for various reasons, but the new arts site will be The Muse News. I'll be sure to let you know once it's up. This whole Allzah main site needs an overhaul too - and it will get one. Sometimes I wish I didn't have to sleep at all. But I like sleep! Either way, when this site is re-developed it will be somewhat of a portal site or a wiki. I'll let you know when I know what I end up deciding! Please also swing by my arts site and check out some of my newest work - HERE.
November 13, 2006I have exciting news! Allzah is going to experience a re-birth! We had to stop up-dating Allzah because of the demand to review music, theatre, art - just about every muse - from here to Baltimore. The re-focus is going to be VISUAL ARTS in SOUTHERN MARYLAND. I don't know for sure when it will be up and running since I have to rely on the kindness and time availability of my wonderful hubby Robert to put it together. I hope to have it up mid-January though. Please stop back by then and check it out! -Heather October 26, 2006THE DELUSIONAL DUCK DRAMA I just wanted to post a quick note about my short-lived blogging on the Delusional Duck or "The Duck Pond" or "The Duckies" whatever you want to call it. Phil Coons invited me on the blog and then erased every post I wrote, blacklisted my IP address and never told me why. Here is the blog I posted about the matter so that I woldn't have to keep repeating the story. Keywords: Phil Coons, Phillip Coons, P.H. Coons, The Duck Pond, Duckies, The Chick, Artsy Chick, Heather, The Wolf, The Delusional Duck, Charles County, Chuck County, The Duck from Chuck, The Quack, Charles County Politics, Southern Maryland, Maryland Politics, Maryland Blogs, La Plata blogs, Waldorf blogs. October 11, 2006I have been considering bringing back Allzah the ezine, but with a focus only on Charles County. I have one person who has volunteered to write for it so far. I'll keep you posted. On October 28th I will be vending my art at the Greenwell Foundation's first annual Fall Festival. Come by and see me! In additon to my regular blog I have been invited to blog at the Delusional Duck website - which deals with Charles County politics. There are two other bloggers there and lots of visitors who leave comments - it's a very interactive blog. Visit Heather's new art site - Allzah Art - Launched May 4, 2006
There isn't even a third of my work up on the site at this point, but I wanted to launch and I will work over the next several weeks to get what I've completed photographed and up on the site. Most of what I currently have in stock is going to the Fairy Festival, so if you can, come on by! The business end of art is tough for somebody who just wants to squish paint around and twist wires and sprinkle things with glitter, but I am going to try to keep a good flow on the site. Some days I spend most of the day doing website and business stuff instead of artwork! But I'm very happy to be able to do something I love and to share it with those who are interested. I would have more up by the end of the weekend but I have to work on stuff for the festival and I HAD to take time out to see Port Tobacco Players' production of "Midsummer Night's Dream" - a number of beautiful and talented people are involved with production so I can't wait to see it! Next to launch is the Allzah Photography site. I'll keep you posted! ~ Heather
MAY 4, 2006 Most of you know that Allzah.com stopped being updated last year due to overwhelming demand for reviews and not enough volunteers. The volunteers we had were wonderful and helpful, but we were all stretched too thin. We will keep the archives up even after all of the new sites are launched so you can access the reviews and articles, the link will be off of this page somewhere. If the Fates be with us the new Allzah Art, Allzah Photography and William Hardy Art sites will all be launched as they are finished over the next few months. Thanks to everybody who helped make Allzah a success.
February 2006THE PHOTO STUDIO IS DONE! (See our policies and pricing by scrolling below the photos.) As you can see we still don't have our new website up and running, that's because we'd been finishing up the studio. The the new website is our next big project. To find out most of what's going on you can always check out Heather's blog at http://art.allzah.com. Enjoy the old Allzah Archives while you can, they will be gone soon. Heather and Will are going to be vending at the Maryland Fairy Festival in Upper Marlboro in May. We'll be selling our art, photos and crafts at the festival. It's Allzah's first time vending at a festival, so wish us well! This is a great family event. The festival will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 20 and 21, 2006 10 AM to 6 PM Patuxent 4H Center, 18405 Queen Anne Road Admission is $3 for children 3-11 and $7 for those 12 and older. Some of the items we will be selling include fairy wings, altered and handmade books, crowns, elf shoe paintings, fairy watercolors, prints, bookmarks, wands, art cards, fine art photos and small sculpted elf and fairy shoes, horns, as well as wearable art, such as altered jeans. ARCHIVED NEWS Old News - October 10, 2005 About the Photography Studio We worked all weekend on getting the studio into workable condition. Now that the heatwave has passed Will spent time installing lots of new electrical wiring and junction boxes and other electricity-related things I do not understand, but either way, that portion is DONE! We finished painting the floors and walls and put up the curtains and canvas. We will be open for business at the end of this month for our test models - who have already been selected - and who will be the subjects of our advertising portfolio. We hope to officially start shooting for everybody else by the second week in November. So if you need headshots, check back here to see some of our work and check out our prices. Here are some visual updates.
I am working on MANY projects all at once to have plenty of art pieces to put up on the new site, so please check back! About Our Auctions - Changing From Ebay to OA and Other Auction Sites Sigh. I closed down, for now, my onlineauction.com auctions. They still have quite a few kinks to work out. You can still find some of my stuff on Ebay, but I will be keeping some of my more recent creations for when the new site goes up. Allzah Blogs Cafepress Shop is Now Open! I started up a Cafepress shop - you can find my art as well as sayings, Shakespeare quotes buttons, tee shirts, magnets, stickers, tote bags, mugs - lots of fun stuff in my Cafepress shop.
